HOW TO FIX OUTLOOK SOMETHING WENT WRONG ERROR WHEN SEARCHING?

STEPS TO FIX OUTLOOK UNABLE TO SEARCH 

In the scenario where you receive a yellow box stating "Something went wrong and your search couldn't be completed," every time you search for an email, it simply means that your Windows Search Service is damaged. To fix Outlook something went wrong error, follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Click on the Start icon and insert SERVICES.MSC to initiate the Services management console
  • Next, double-click the Windows search and change it to Disabled; please do not press STOP as it won't complete the process; you must disable it completely
  • The third step is to reboot the system
  • The fourth step to fix the unable to search in Outlook problem is to delete all files from the following folders:

 

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Temp

  • The next step is to click on the Start icon again and insert SERVICES.MSC to initiate the Services Management Console
  • Double click the Windows Search to change it to Automatic-Delayed Start 
  • Now, you can either reboot or manually initiate the Windows Search service
